As a prominent member of the Salmonidae family, the Coho Salmon (Silver Salmon) provides excellent sport in US lake,river waters. The Coho salmon, also known as silver salmon, is celebrated for its spectacular jumps and acrobatic fighting ability. Smaller than Chinook but pound-for-pound considered more exciting fighters, Coho are extensively stocked in the Great Lakes and Pacific coast rivers. During fall spawning runs, Coho pack into tributaries for excellent shore fishing opportunities.

Primary Diet: Alewives, smelt, and baitfish in lakes; does not feed significantly during spawning runs but will strike out of aggression.
Fishing Tips & Best Baits
Fall spawning runs from September through November are prime time. Cast spoons and egg imitations across river pools. In lakes, troll small spoons and flasher-fly rigs at 25-75 feet depth near thermal breaks.
